GeM Login at GeM.gov.in – Public procurement is an integral part of the several activities of the Indian Government. The present Government wanted to get reform in this sector that gave birth to the option of GeM. The main aim of the Government to come up with this portal was to transform the method of procurement of services and goods.
It was way back in the year 2016 that two Secretariat groups made recommendations to the Indian Prime Minister about having a Government e-Marketplace. Soon, it was in the Finance Budget of the Financial Year 2016 – 2017 that the Finance Minister of India announced a digital platform for procurement of different items by the Government agencies as well as the Ministries.
GeM Portal – Government e-Marketplace
Government e-Marketplace is commonly known as GeM. DGS&D hosted this portal of GeM that is one of the first Government portals for procurement of goods in India. This digital user-friendly portal is made for the purpose of convenient procurement of goods by Government agencies.
The Commerce and Industry Minister launched the portal of GeM on 9th August 2016. This portal not just allowed the procurement of goods but also services. The General Financial Rules have authorized the procurement procedure on the portal. By now, there are more than 7400 goods in more than 150 categories in the portal. Also, as of now, there has been a transaction of more than Rs. 140 crores on GeM.
GeM offers absolutely paperless transactions to offer the procurement of goods in the most convenient way. This is one of the many initiatives that have been taken by the Government of India towards the aim of Digital India.

GeM Login 2021
In order to start using the facilities of GeM, you have to first log into it through the official portal. Logging into the portal is quite easy that you can do it by following these simple steps.
Step – 1 – Visit the official portal of GeM by clicking on the link www.gem.gov.in.
Step – 2 – On the extreme top right corner, you will find the option of Login on which you have to click.
Step – 3 – As the next page appears with the login form, you have to provide your GeM User Id.
Step – 4 – Now enter the Captcha code is that visible on the screen.
Step – 5 – Click on the Submit option and you will be redirected to another page.
Step – 6 – On this next page, you have to provide your Password.
Step – 7 – Finally, click on the Login option to enter your profile and access various services of the portal.
GeM Buyer Registration
There are two ways how you can register into the GeM portal. One is through the option of GeM Buyer Registration while the second one is GeM Seller Registration. If you wish to register into the GeM portal as a buyer, here are the steps that you need to follow.
Step – 1 – Visit the site at www.gem.gov.in.
Step – 2 – Now on the option of Sign Up, you will find a dropdown menu from where you have to click and select the option of Buyer.
Step – 3 – On the next page, you will have to click on the option of Review Terms and Conditions.
Step – 4 – A box will open up, where you have to go through all the terms and conditions carefully and have to tick the box to accept it.
Step – 5 – Next, you have to provide your Aadhaar Number and your Mobile Number. Make sure that you have to provide the same mobile number that is linked with your Aadhaar.
Step – 6 – Now, click on the option of Verify Aadhaar to complete the verification process.
Step – 7 – A next page will appear where you have to provide an OTP that you must have received on your registered mobile number.
Step – 8 – Again click on the Verify option provided.
Step – 9 – On the next page, you will get a popup that you need to go through and have to click on the option of Close on it.
Step – 10 – Now, you will get a form that you need to fill up with all the necessary details.
Step – 11 – Next, you have to provide your email id and have to verify it using the OTP that you will receive on your email id.
Step – 12 – Now, provide a user id and password.
Step – 13 – Confirm the password and then click on the option of Create Account.
While getting this registration done and providing your email id, you have to make sure that you are offering your official email id that should have options such as gov.in, nic.in, or similar others. If you are not providing an official id, the portal will not accept your email address. In case if you do not have an official id, you have to obtain it by requesting it to the email address firstname.lastname@example.org through an officer who already has an official email address.

GeM Seller Registration
Now if you are a seller, you need to follow these steps to get your Organization seller registration done on the portal.
Step – 1 – Vist the portal at www.gem.gov.in.
Step – 2 – Now from the Sign-Up option, select the option of the seller.
Step – 3 – A page of creating an organization seller account will come up where you have to click on the option of Review Terms and Conditions
Step – 4 – A box will come up from which you have to go through the Terms and Conditions carefully and then have to mark the box to accept the Terms and Conditions.
Step – 5 – Now on the next page, you will have to provide the type of business and the name of your organization.
Step – 6 – Next, you will get the option of selecting from Aadhaar or PAN.
Step – 7 – Whatever you have selected, on the next step, you have to provide the number of your Aadhar or PAN along with your mobile number.
Step – 8 – Now click on the option of Verify Aadhaar.
Step – 9 – After you have verified your Aadhaar, you will be redirected to a new page with a blank form.
Step – 10 – Here you have to fill in all the details correctly and have to provide your email id for verification with the help of an OTP.
Step – 11 – Next, provide a user id and select your password and confirm it.
Step – 12 – Finally, click on the Create Account option.
The rules for an email address for the seller are the same as that of the buyer. Follow the same instruction about an official email address that is already mentioned above in the Buyer section.
