About PM Kisan Yojana

It was way back in the year 2018 when the Telangana Government started an initiative as per which it offered some financial support to the farmers. This gesture of the Government of Telangana was appreciated to quite an extent. Hence, following this same pattern, soon the Government of India came up with a scheme that can offer help to the farmers across the country.

There are mainly three different benefits that the scheme offers to the farmers.

Minimum Income Help:

This is the most commonly known benefit due to which this scheme actually got so famous. Under this benefit, the Government of India will offer a minimum beneficiary amount of Rs. 6000 each year to the individual farmer. This amount will be deposited in the bank account of the farmers in three installments of Rs. 2000 each after every 4 months.

Direct Funding:

As per the scheme the funding will be done directly to the bank accounts of the farmers without any middlemen in the process. Thus, the farmers are liable to get the whole amount that the Government of India has processed towards them each year.

Identification:

Of course, it is not possible for the Central Government to identify the beneficiaries to whom the amount has to be catered. Hence, this responsibility has been offered to the State Governments. The State Government keeps an eye that only the farmers who are eligible for the funding can get the benefit. This again helps in keeping away those individuals who wish to take advantage of such schemes even when they have a strong economic backup.

PM Kisan Eligibility

The scheme is only for helping those individuals who are under the tremendous financial burden and below the poverty line situation. Hence, there are some eligibility criteria mentioned for the farmers who wish to get the benefit from the scheme.

Only the farmers coming under the small and marginal category are eligible for the benefits of this scheme. The farmers who have land of a maximum of 2 hectares on which they can cultivate are only eligible for the scheme. The farmer should be a citizen of India and should have a family of husband, wife, and children.

Besides, the scheme is applicable for farmers from rural and urban areas.

Exclusion from PM Kisan Scheme

There are a number of categories under which a particular farmer is not eligible for the funding benefit of the PM Kisan scheme.

The farmers who are the owners of institutional lands will not be eligible for this scheme funding benefit. A farmer who has a family member at a constitutional position or employed at a Government job will not be eligible for this benefit. Individual who have filed income tax in the last assessment year is also not eligible for this benefit. Any person who or whose family member gets a pension of Rs. 10,000 after retirement from a job position is again not eligible for the funding. A farmer who has got professionals such as a doctor, engineer, architect, and others in the immediate family will also be not eligible for the benefit of funding under the scheme.
